For as long as I can remember I have had a vision of an Arabian horse in my mind. When I saw my first Davenport Arabian,
Tajar CF, I knew my vision actually existed and my search was over. I had fallen in love with the Kuhaylan strain.
My very first Davenport was
Drakos, a 1995 gray colt by Tajar CF out of Taralin. Although we sadly lost Drakos to the West Nile Virus, he was the first of many Kuhaylan Davenports to live at The Weyr.
When Bill and I met in 2000 and subsequently joined forces at The Weyr, we decided that it was time to concentrate on the horse we both loved the best, Drakos and the Davenport Kuhaylans. At that time we owned three other Arabians, all General List, but all of the same, three circle body, type as Drakos.
Our timing was perfect, Charles and Jeanne Craver had recently made the very difficult decision to disperse the larger part of their herd and encourage the formation of multiple breeding groups around the country. It was then that we acquired
Porte CF, a stunning 3yo stallion by Portico CF out of Rechereche CF. Porte came with three mares, Quelle Femme, Cantabile CF, and Deme CF. We finally had a Kuhaylan breeding group and were on our way.
Since Porte and his ladies arrived we have added to our herd by purchase and breeding until now an average of 25 Asil Arabians call The Weyr home. Our horses have competed successfully in Sport Horse and endurance as well as excelling as just plain family horses for trail riding.
Bill and I are always happy to welcome visitors to meet our wonderful horses and learn how Davenport and Babson/Turfa Arabians are different from any other type of horse in the world. Yes, we are very biased, but we think with good reason!
